Pam Hurley, PhD

Pam Hurley, PhD

Hi, my name is Pam Hurley and I'm the owner and founder of Hurley Write, Incorporated, a certified woman-owned small business. I have a PhD in technical communication from the University of South Carolina. Go Gamecocks.

I've taught at Duke University, George Washington University, several universities in the North Carolina system. Started with the business 30 years ago after getting frustrated with what was being taught in academia, and understanding that the courses that were being taught weren't really very helpful for people once they got into the workforce.

Bob Wiltfong

Bob Wiltfong

Hi, my name is Bob Wiltfong. I'm the lead instructor for Hurley Write's Presentation Skills curriculum. There's a joke by the comedian, Jerry Seinfeld, that really sums up why we teach what we teach in this field. And the joke is that at a funeral, most people would prefer to be the person in the casket than the one giving the eulogy. It's a funny joke in part, because it's true.

There's a bunch of research that backs up that public speaking trumps even death for most people, as far as fears in life, amazing. For the last 20 plus years, I've been working with business executives at Fortune 500 companies around the globe on this very topic, helping them become much more comfortable and dynamic as public speakers. My clients have included General Electric, Charles Schwab, T-Mobile, just to name a few. My background is in TV news journalism. I spent 10 years working as a local TV news reporter and anchor, won some Emmys along the way.

Then I transitioned into comedy and acting where you may know me, or recognize me, from my work as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, or as a national spokesperson for Nationwide Insurance, where I was the character, the world's greatest spokesperson in the world. My classes are fun, interactive, and I give you skills that are very easy to use. I am happy to say that for a lot of people in my classes, the time I spend with them is truly life changing. That's an awesome job that I have. So, I'm looking forward to having you in one of the classes, one of the workshops that we offer. Hopefully you can make it and hopefully we can help you with your public speaking.

Mischa Enos, EdD

Mischa Enos, EdD

Hi, my name is Misha Enos, and I'm an Executive Trainer and Consultant with Hurley Write, Incorporated. Growing up, I was fond of reading biographies and each new subject, whether it was Helen Keller, Jane Adams, Albert Schweitzer, Harriet Tubman, or Amelia Earhart, to name a few, became inspiration for a new career path, even if that path was long to fund.

By the time I got to college, I had finally settled on what some would say was a not much more practical calling, English. I have a bachelor's in English, an MA in Applied English Linguistics, and after a long interval to acquire real-world experience, I completed my Doctorate in Language and Literacy at Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Before entering the doctoral program, I worked as an instructor in English as a second Language at four US universities and private institutes, as well as overseas in Poland and Chile. While in Chile, I left teaching to work as a journalist, covering primarily human rights issues and Chile's mining industry. I've taken a lot of detours in my professional work, just as I did reading about my childhood heroes, but I've always found roots that have developed my interest in expertise in languages and literacy, particularly writing.

The list is long. Ready? I worked as an undergraduate writing consultant at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a graduate writing consultant at Harvard Graduate School of Education, a creative writing teacher in Houston area schools through a nonprofit, a research associate on two major literacy research projects, a translator, writer, and editor on forensic documents for immigration, and as a community college instructor in composition and literature. Hope I didn't forget anything.

Since that does not seem enough career diversity to fill one lifetime, I find myself now working happily with Hurley Write. As an executive trainer, I draw on my ESL background to design and deliver professional writing webinars and workshops to international employees working in the US. I very much look forward to working with you.
